Wildlife Management International Limited (WMIL) can offer a range of highly specialised skills in the ecological/ conservation arena. WMIL use the latest technology, ecological principles and conservation management methodology, including recent advances with GIS mapping. See the projects page for examples of the type of projects our skills have assisted. Services provided include:BIRD RESEARCH, MONITORING & MANAGEMENT
WMIL have considerable ornithological background having worked on a vast array of avian research and conservation projects, both within New Zealand and across the globe. WMIL can help design and implement studies, analyse and interpret data, and produce reports for bird conservation or research projects. Specialist skills include bird banding/ringing, species translocation, breeding and biology studies, integrated species research/ management for conservation work, radio telemetry, satellite and geo-locator tracking. INVASIVE SPECIES ERADICATION, CONTROL & AUDITING
WMIL have successfully eradicated mice, rats (Rattus rattus, R. norvegicus, and R. exulans), rabbits, hares, feral cats, and goats from over 40 islands throughout the world, making us one of the most experienced leaders in island eradication methodology. We have carried out audits on a range of invasive species projects helping local conservation groups achieve better results. ECOLOGICAL SURVEYS, MONITORING & RESTORATION
Our long background in environmental and conservation arena enables us to bring expertise to undertake a wide range of ecological surveys and monitoring. WMIL can undertake habitat surveys over entire ecosystems or a detailed assessment for a certain species. Our intimate knowledge of habitats is invaluable during ecological restoration projects and WMIL can provide advice, planning and implement ecological restoration projects of any size. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT & ASSESSMENT
With our extensive knowledge and experience in a variety of widely different habitats and ecosystems, WMIL is well placed to assist to carry out environmental impact assessments. We have assisted a number of development projects during the resource consent process by provided well grounded assessment of the effects on ecological communities of the development proposal. With early participation WMIL can assist commercial development by helping plan developments in an ecologically sustainable way.
WMIL have vast experience with native frog research, monitoring, and management. Key skills include species translocation, habitat assessment, and population monitoring, developing a system of individual photo identification, and establishing a database to enable efficient population monitoring and reporting. |
