Waiau Toa Hapua/Clarence Rivermouth Trapping

WMIL serviced a trapline that runs along each side of the Waiau Toa Hapua/Clarence Rivermouth targeting rats, mustelids, hedgehogs, possums and feral cats under contract to Boffa Miskell, LINZ, and Environment Canterbury (ECan), with support from the Department of Conservation (DOC).

The trapping aimed to significantly improve breeding outcomes for key threatened species such as tara/white-fronted terns, pohowera/banded dotterels, and tarāpuka/black-billed gulls that utilise the river mouth for nesting each year. Seasonal reports available upon request.
